Some have thought that June was named after Junius Brutus, who became the first consul of Rome. Their reason is that on the first of June, after Tarquin had been driven out, Brutus made a sacrifice he had vowed to the goddess Carna on the Caelian Hill. People believe that this goddess watches over the vital organs of the human body.
