Hearth Interactive

Read a little of the original beside its English, phrase by phrase and word by word.

About these games

Games about translating. Every round comes from a real text in Hearth Library, matched phrase by phrase with our English.

All but Match the Phrase and What Does It Mean? are first drafts, and Reading Order is an untested experiment. Rounds come from every library source whose phrase links have been checked, now in Classical Chinese, Ancient Greek, Latin, Old English and early Middle English, Spanish, Russian, French and German; more join as the library grows. Writings by translators about their craft, from Cicero and Jerome to Dryden, are planned for Hearth Library's Word for Word collection.
