About
Bringing History to Life: simulations, interactives, and games with a firm foundation in our shared experience.
Hearth Interactive makes games, websites, interactives, software tools and learning materials about real history and science, all built on the same research.
What we make
Hearth Games
Free word, script, translation and number games to play in your browser, and simulation and strategy games for PC on Steam.
Hearth Library
Historical writing and images, each in its original language beside translations, with analysis, activities and more. Browse them in a gallery, on a map or along a timeline.
Hearth Learning
Free resources for teachers and students, founded in the history of literature, science, medicine and more.
What we work on
- History
- Events told by the people who lived through them, in their own words.
- Science
- How people understood disease, nature and the sky before we did, and how that changed.
- Primary sources
- Letters, chronicles, sermons, posters and records, each traced to a named edition or object.
- Education
- Notes, questions and units a teacher can use in an evening, for teenagers and adults.
- Games
- Games set in real places and times, built on the same research as everything else here.
- Interactive
- Maps, timelines and side-by-side readings that let you compare a source with its translation.
- Technology
- Tools for finding, translating and checking old texts, and for saying plainly how each was made.
How we work
- Sources first. We start from the original, in a named public-domain edition, and show it beside every translation.
- Plain about how things are made. Our translations are drafted with AI and checked against the originals. Every page says what has been checked and by whom. How the texts are made
- Easy to read, hard to fool. Translations are written for curious teenagers and adults, with the difficult parts explained in notes rather than smoothed away.
- One body of research. The library, the books and the games share the same sources, so anything we make can point you back to the evidence.

A relaxed 3D tycoon game about building space hotels one module at a time. Check-in is in orbit.
Guests book a stay, ride your rocket to orbit, spend a few nights and pay. You handle everything in between: the launch, the life support, the room service and the ride home. You own the spaceport, the rockets and the rooms.
Start with one company, one launch pad and a home site in Florida or at Tanegashima. Grow from a single module in low orbit to hotels around the Moon, Mars and Saturn, at your own pace: pause, speed up, or just watch.

Play either side of first contact in a colony sim of the Americas in 1500, where a full store can still starve you.
Choose a people and settle a new land: Europeans cross the sea, native peoples come overland through the river country. Clear the ground, raise your buildings, and feed your people through the seasons.
There is nothing to win and no score. What there is instead is loss: hunger, sickness, unrest and hard winters can end a colony you spent hours building.
