From Paxil and Cayala, as the place is called, came the yellow ears and the white ears. These are the names of the animals who brought the food: Fox, Coyote, Parrot, and Raven. These four animals told the creators the news of the yellow ears and white ears that came from Paxil, and showed them the road there. There the creators found the food. This became the flesh of the people they made and modeled. Water became their blood, human blood. So the ears of maize entered into people, by the work of the Bearer and Begetter.
